Monday 29th October

After meeting with my group on friday of last week, we discovered where we went wrong with our project. We realised that we were not creating a new folder for the pictures on the desktop, and this is why there wasn't enough space on the hard drive to save the new set of images.
Once we had finished editing and saving the pictures we individualy added them to our timeline. I decided to call my movie Visual Narcotics, this is because of the soundtrack I have selected to use, and the visual effects I am going to use.

Photoshop example

Here is a picture of my home city in Switzerland. I have edited the picture in Photoshop in a similar way that we will edit the photos for our still picture project.

For our project we want to make the photos look dated, as if the pictures were taken 50 - 100 years ago. Here is an example of how we want the photos to look.

Tuesday 22nd October

Following the previous lecture of having to upload, re-size and edit the images, we would now add the images to a timeline and include sound effects and a soundtrack.
Once our group had arrived in the class, we realised that the location where we had saved our work from the previous week was no longer there due to the fact that we saved it to our desktop, rather than create a new folder in "My Documents". We didn't see this as too much of a problem, as we would listen to what Andy had to say at the begining of the class, and then go about re-sizing the images again as it didn't take to long to do.
Once Andy had finished instructing the class on how to go about inserting the images onto a timeline, we would then begin re-sizing the images again.
We attempted re-sizing the images several times, on a couple of ocassions we realised that we had simply made errors while trying to save the images. We then changed to work on a different computer and repeated the same process. After repeating this several times, the same error message continued to re-occur. We then agreed it would be better for our group to meet out of class on Thursday and try to resolve the problem, if the problem persisted we would attend the afternoon surgery session. I will post up the results of this dilema!!

Still Picture Animation

Following the whiteboard animation, we were put into groups of 4 and 5 and assigned the task of producing a still picture animation. We were told that we had to capture a sequence of frames that assumes a frame rate of 12 shots per second for a 30 second piece.
Once we had been put into our groups, we decided on the theme of our production after watching some videos what had been previously made. We then went out and shot our film over a 2 day period.
In our next class, we were then assigned the task to re-size the images and add effects to the pictures using facebook so they can be added to a timeline.
We will be doing this in our next class,
Thanks

Whiteboard animation

On the 4th October we were assigned to task to create a small animation on a whiteboard using a standard camera. Guidelines were set as to what was required of us in making the video.
We were told there would be a small tree and a box, and we would have to make the animation so that the box would start on one side of the tree and end on the other side. The rest was up to our imagination!
After some steady planning we came to an agreement on how we were going to go about this task.
The final product can be viewed at- http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7ugv-ZZ2jCU
our production is 2:05 into the video.
Thanks

Joes University Work 1st Year

hi,
I am currently about to start my 4th week of my multimedia course at nottingham trent university. I will regularly update my profile as my course progresses.
Previous to my course, myself and a friend had created a personal movie site (www.onetouchables.tk), similar to youtube which contained videos we had created and edited ourselves. It was originaly for a school project, but after we recieved large intrest, including an insurance company in Holland called WeDare.com, we kept updating the sites which now allows you to stream a large selection of movies, as well as the public to post their own.
all legally of course.....
anyway, i will regularly be updating my blog as the year goes on so feel free to brouse my work, and leave feedback,
thanks,
Joe
